War historian and friend of the Museum Terry Whenham, volunteer for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and Fundraiser for ABF The Soldiers Charity, is looking at arranging a Wollaston-focussed trip to the WWI battlefields and war graves (detailed itinerary below).

On The Trail of the Wollaston Fallen

4 days from £359 pp including B&B, coach travel, ferry crossing, tour guide, tolls.

We will visit the battlefields where many of the Wollaston men fell in action and then visit either their Commonwealth War Graves Commission grave or memorial.

Day 1 – Depart Wollaston early morning
Visit Ypres battlefields:
• Menin Gate Memorial to the Missing & The Last Post;
• Tyne Cot Cemetery and Memorial;
• Hooge Crater & Museum;
• Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery & visitor centre

Day 2 – The Forgotten Battlefield – Aubers Ridge, Loos:
• Ploegsteert Memorial
• Loos Memorial & 1915 battlefields
• Aubers Ridge battlefield
• Neuve Chapelle battlefield
• Le Touret Memorial

Day 3 – The Somme Battlefield:
• Thiepval Memorial;
• Pozieres Memorial;
• High Wood – the rottenest place on the Somme;
• Trones Wood;
• Serre Road No 2 Cemetery – the largest CWGC cemetery on the Somme;
• Guillemont;
• Sheffield Memorial Park;
• The Lochnager Crater.
• The Sunken Lane;
• Newfoundland Memorial Park.

Day 4 – The Arras and 1918 Battlefields:
• Arras Memorial
• Arras 1917 battlefield
• Vis-en-Artois Memorial
