Royal Visit to Strixton - 3rd May 1985

Friday 3rd May, 1985 saw a Royal visit to Higham Ferrers and Strixton, visiting farms on the land owned by the Duchy of Lancaster with a lunch at Manor Farm, Strixton and tea at Greenfield Lodge Farm, also Strixton.

The Royal party comprised Her Majesty The Queen and Prince Philip, The Countess of Airlie, The Rt Hon Sir Philip Moore, The Rt Hon the Earl of Gowrie and Lady Gowrie, Mr and Mrs Peter Miles, Major Hugh Lindsay, Chief Inspector Prentice and another police officer.  Lunch guests at Manor Farm included Duchy Council members, representatives of the Duchy of Lancaster, the Lord Lieutenant and High Sheriff of Northamptonshire and many local dignitaries and farmers.  A full list of attendees is held at the Museum.
The itinerary for the day was planned and executed with military precision, from arrival at Wellingborough Station at 9.55am until departure from the final stop at Greenfield Lodge Farm at 4.00pm.
